Sixth (6th) Generation iPod in April '06?

The online Apple iTunes store is anticipating the billionth download sometime this week and the lucky customer to hit that 1,000,000,000 mark will enjoy a load of free goods as a reward: one (1) new 20" iMac computer, ten (10) 60gB iPods and a gift-certificate to the iTunes store worth $10,000! So if you time it just right you can be that lucky individual. Apple.com now has a counter on their site which is tracking the current totals. A few other related links: 1-billion-songs-sold and iTunes upcoming record.
It is also reported on suntimes.com we may be hearing news on April 1st of a new, updated iPod with a larger color LCD screen that would fill up the width of the whole device! This would come only 6 short months after the 5th generation iPod was introduced with the video feature last fall. It isn't too soon to update an existing product if there is room for improvement. But if I'd recently bought an iPod video I may be a bit bummed to see a newer, fresher one out so soon. I'm still cruising confidently with my 20gB 4th Gen iPod and will be for some time I'm sure.
